Interview of Mark Molavi, USCG, LTJG, including description of the May 2006 search and rescue case of the fishing vessel Legend, which was leaking 30 to 50 gallons of water per minute, 90 miles south of San Diego; the launching of two Coast Guard helicopters and two Navy helicopters, which reached the Legend within 45 minutes of the initial distress call and dropped water pumps; and describes the AMVER program (Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue System, an international search and rescue system, sponsored by the United States Coast Guard that uses commercial ships to rescue people at sea), and they contacted the Sunbelt Spirent, only fifteen miles away from the Legend.
